CBN PRESS RELEASE

Vancouver, October 27, 2009

The Canadian Brownfields Network (CBN) is pleased to announce that it has become an independent, not-for-profit corporation. The newly formed Board including Angus Ross, Tammy Lomas-Jylha and George Vincent, have named Bonnie Prior as President and David Harper as Vice President. Paulette Vinette of Solution Studio Inc has been appointed as the Manager of the CBN and has extensive experience in association management.

According to CBN President Bonnie Prior, "The momentum generated by this move is clearly visible with a number of companies and individuals committing in the past week to becoming members of CBN and bringing representation from more sectors and even from other countries into the Canadian Brownfields Network."

The CBN is a national advocacy network that represents the interests of brownfield practitioners and stakeholders who want to effect change and address the barriers associated with brownfield redevelopment in Canada. The Vision of the CBN is to advocate brownfield redevelopment as an essential component of sustainable communities and urban revitalization in Canada.

Over the past 5 years the CBN has been operating under the OCETA umbrella. Since CBN's inception, OCETA undertook numerous projects and initiatives to further brownfield redevelopment in Canada and CBN is grateful for the support - financial, time, and energy - provided during these early, formative years. In particular, Tammy Lomas-Jyllha and Joanna Hickling of OCETA have taken a leadership role in helping CBN grow to be in a position to operate as an independent organization, under its own power.

Says President Bonnie Prior, "This is an exciting move for CBN that completes the new direction set out during the member update at the 2008 Canadian Brownfields Conference and fulfills the desire of many of the members to be part of a distinct Canadian industry association. It also opens up opportunities for CBN to undertake a number of different projects to further the goals of 'Brownfielders' across Canada in the not too distant future and provides greater reason to be part of the growing CBN membership."
